One of the most difficult things a woman will ever face is the desire for a child and the apparent inability to have one. Just over two years ago, a patient came all the way from Nigeria, Africa to talk to Dr. McLucas about embolization. For years she had suffered with fibroids and was convinced they were the primary cause of her infertility. Although several surgeries had been performed, the fibroids just kept coming back. Now 40 years old, with a recurrent condition and no pregnancy in sight, the patient knew her time was running out. After a screening to determine elegibility for UFE, Dr. Mclucas performed her embolization in February of 2007.
Amazingly, this past December, the lady who came from so far away finally found what she was looking for. She is now the mother of a beautiful, healthy baby girl. UFE didn’t just end a fibroid problem, it helped start a whole new life and a family. We at FTC are incredibly proud to have been part of the journey.

This is the news of hope I have been waiting for.
As at the time of writing this comment, I am waiting for an admission bed for an embolisation tomorrow at a hospital in Britain. Even though it was my MOST DESIRED WISH I couldn’t make it to the US and Dr. Mcluclas surgery because of certain issues.
I am 34 and have had a myomectomy 7 years ago. Because I too am from Nigeria where girls are encouraged to marry when young, most of my mates are finished with childbirth and have on the average three or four children.
People do not understand why fibroid made me continue to postpone marriage and it was wrongly interpreted that I was a ‘career minded, independent go getter woman’.
The real truth in actual fact was that most young men that had come close enough just couldn’t brave it up to marry me and betrayed their doubts about my ability to conceive. I was left without a choice but to continue to pursue other things.
It seemed like just very recently, I began to wonder about conceiving after an embolisation. I prayed I’d be strengthened by a personal story and this woman’s story is just it.
Every woman with fibroid has a unique story. Why her’s strikes me is that she had multiple surgeries and I have had only one. She is about 6 years older than me and yet, God still has blessed her.
I am believing God for my own miracle that after my embolisation tomorrow and marriage, I will have complication free pregnancies and I am hoping for three lovely children, two boys and a girl.
We are absolutely elated that you found the post both relevant and beneficial! We wish you all the best!
