Medically, it’s a simple fact… your eggs are as old as you are. And that means a couple of things. Number and quality will diminish with age. Doctors call this ‘diminished ovarian reserve’. Older women trying to conceive should keep in mind that older eggs experience greater difficulty in implantation, having a higher incidence of chromosomal error, and the older the egg, the higher the risk of miscarriage. Thankfully, science can step in where nature steps out. Fertility drugs, invitro fertilization and donor eggs have changed the pregnancy landscape in many ways. Still, it’s important to realize that most those late-life celebrity births you’ve been reading about are almost never the result of fertility the old fashioned way. So if you’re thinking about children, every year makes a difference. The optimal age for conception is still linked to your body’s internal clock. No matter how young you may look or feel, your eggs have their own agenda.

I’m 42 years old and a mother of one 4 year old daughter…I had a laporectomy back in 2002 and was told it would be impossible to become pregnant again due to my history of missed periods and hormonal imbalance issues. I recently have been missing periods this last 2 months and took 3 pregnancy test OTC.. and got 2 neg. and one pos. result Could this be due to pre menopausal symptoms?? is this something that can happen at 42??? or even at all?

I am 41 and would love to have a baby with the love of life, we plan to marry soon. I had to stop working and don’t have any medical coverage. We were wondering about how much would this cost, I am going to hold off as long as I can, so that I can have a baby. Any cost info would be wonderful. Please and Thank You.
