No fibroids. Three babies.

"I was a patient in 12/1999--I now have 3 sons! My last one was born 7/2004. My last check up in 2007 showed no large fibroids, one small one.

Procedure was a great thing for me. Glad to see your still advancing the technology and spreading the work on the benefits. Good Luck!"

Got life back with embo.

"I was originally diagnosed some 15 years ago with fibroid tumors. Initially the doctor recommendations was wait and see if and how much they grow and if it becomes painfully debilitating before deciding on the course of treatment. Since it wasn’t bothering me much I shouldn’t bother it, besides most of the treatments could not ensure that the fibroids wouldn’t grow back in the future. I was told the only solution that could offer some assurance that the fibroids wouldn’t return was a hysterectomy. The hysterectomy solution wasn’t suitable for me as a young woman of childbearing years not wanting the option of bearing children to be forever eliminated at such an early age.

Fast forward some years and my complications related to fibroids such as infertility, miscarriages, severe anemia, thyroid, back pain, sciatic nerve, sleeplessness, severe PMS and debilitating pain controlled every aspect of my life. I tried everything including diet, exercise, herbal remedies, yoga etc. all to no avail. These symptoms were a steady yet progressive degradation to the quality of my life. Eventually I had to orchestrate my life around the 3 weeks I could effectively function knowing that I would be incapacitated for 1+ week every month. Sadly I just didn’t realize how much time of my life was severely compromised until I discovered the freedom that UFE offered me.

Once successfully completed I immediately noticed the difference in my body. My healing time was quick compared to other alternatives. For the first time in years I was liberated thanks to UFE no more symptoms I no longer suffered needlessly in pain or shame. I am now able to recapture and make use of the time that I had surrendered to being incapacitated and unable to fully function due to fibroid tumors.

Please keep up the wonderful work helping and educating women who needlessly suffer with Fibroids. Press on as an advocate educating the Insurance Community and Fellow Doctors to this viable, less invasive, faster recovery, cost effective solution which is rarely discussed in the OB/GYN offices as an alternative to the hysterectomy or myomectomy for fibroids."

Mid-life fibroid crisis.

"I live in Sacramento and work as a professional photographer. I am 44 years old and I had a fibroid removed when I was about 33. The surgery was VERY unpleasant. Going all the way under anesthesia was the WORST part.

Not long after that surgery, I began to bleed fairly heavily again. My bleeding progressed as the years went by and was insanely heavy. I knew I had another fibroid.

Being self employed and 44 found me with the WORST insurance. They would not cover a Hysterectomy. I was truly terrified. I felt so lost. It seemed I had NO options until I was LUCKY enough to find Dr. McLucas.

TOYA, who is the patient coordinator at Dr. McLucas’s office, was the only person who I called in the medical community that had some heart and sympathy. For me, the embolization procedure seemed my ONLY hope.

Since the surgery, I have a new lease on life. My surgery was an absolute SUCCESS.

I suffered SO much with fibroids; the heavy bleeding, passing huge clots, the pain, bloating, embarrassing stains and extreme anemia. I could not say enough good things about my experience with Dr. McLucas and his staff. I thank GOD I found them. I TRULY feel they saved my life!!!!"

Superfast recovery.

"I was thrilled to find an option other than major surgery to solve my problems with fibroids. Better yet was the fact that my recovery was days, not weeks. I missed only one day of work and was swimming even beforereturning to work. As time passes, I continue to be thankful for this procedure and for Dr. McLucas' being there throughout the embolization as well as for his continuing follow ups."

Escape from hysterectomy.

"I was 38 years old when I was first diagnosed with uterine fibroids. At the time of diagnosis, my uterus was about the size of a 5-6 month pregnancy. I was starting to feel the fibroids from the outside and my abdominal girth was increasing. My periods were very heavy and I felt a constant pressure sensation. I knew I needed to get something done, but the only option I heard over and over again was hysterectomy. Being a nurse, I didn’t have the recovery time required for a hysterectomy and at my age I wasn’t willing to have a hysterectomy.

I started to research other options and I found uterine embolization and Dr. McLucas. I made an appointment and we discussed the procedure. I had the embolization and 7 years later I still know I made the right decision for me. The fibroids have shrunk and my uterus is back to a normal size. I don’t have the urgency to urinate or suffer from constant constipation. My periods are manageable and I don’t have to worry about taking a change of clothing.

The best part for me is I didn’t need to have a hysterectomy and my recovery time was minimal. I spent the first night in the hospital for pain management, but by the next morning I was ready to go home and take it easy for that first day. After that I was up and doing my own work around the house. I didn’t require anything for pain after the first day. After a couple of days I was ready to return to work. I am so happy uterine embolization was a choice for me. I am happy with the results and I know I made the right decision. Thank you Dr. McLucas.

Back to normal.

"After my initial diagnosis I began to research my options and seek out medical professionals for more information. The advice I received was very unappealing as the procedures seemed invasive, had a higher risk of complications, chance of recurrence and long recovery times.

As a relatively healthy person I wanted a procedure that offered less risk and would allow me to return to my normal life as soon as possible. Embolization gave me this choice. After having the procedure I had no complications and was back to my normal activities within 10 days and the best part was I was no longer experiencing all the unbearable symptoms that the fibroids had once caused.

Embolization changed my quality of life and I would definitely recommend it."

Complicated case. Happy ending.

"In April of 2005, I was referred to Dr McLucas, by an acupuncturist who also had sought out his services. Unfortunately, by the time I saw Dr M, I needed emergency surgery due to my level of anemia and the threat of hemorrhaging.

I was probably one of the more complicated cases due to my anemia and 2 different problematic tumors. Because of this, I ended up having 2 separate procedures, which included a Blood Transfusion. Due to these factors, my recovery was probably longer than most. The embolization alone was a painless out patient procedure. I did however have flu like symptoms but there was no other discomfort. In addition, with the embolization, a patient can get back to regular life in about one week.

Needless to say, I never have felt better and for the first time in my menstrual life, as my periods range from 2-3 days and are light. Halleluiah. And for those of you how want children, I would highly consider this procedure before having a Hysterectomy.

So, if you're looking for a no-sugar coated approach with an extremely professional specialist and pioneer in the field, then I highly recommend Dr. McLucas.

Myomectomy failed. Embo didn’t.

"Over fifteen years ago I had the traditional myomectomy surgery. My fibroids returned worse than ever resulting in extremely heavy periods, painful intercourse, and distended uterus. After much research, I decided on Dr. McLucas’ uterine embolization procedure. What a breeze! The procedure was over before I knew it; all I had was a tiny incision in the groin and some cramping (no worse than a bad period). I was up and around and eating a full Thanksgiving dinner by the second day! No more heavy periods, a normal uterus and sex is pain free. I couldn’t be happier with the results!"

End of horrible period.

"When the duration of my periods went from 7 days to 15 days in length, I knew something was wrong. It happened gradually so initially, I didn't see the urgency. However, one evening I attended a festival with friends and the tampon and pad I was wearing became drenched. No one had any additional feminine products and there wasn't a convenience store in the area. Embarassed, with my jacket around my waist to cover my stained jeans, I took a cab home.

Immediately, I made an appointment with my doctor to get a myomectomy. He had already given me birth control pills and a Depo Provera shot (which had negative effects for me) and this was his final option besides a hysterectomy. He told me, "Your fibroids will grow back in about 6 months but you'll definitely see a decrease in the flow of your menstrual cycle." The procedure included a 4 day 3 night stay at a hospital. There was severe pain after the surgery and soreness during the 3 month healing process. However, I was pleased with the results because my periods were no longer heavy.

One day, I noticed my cycle had become irregular again. I hadn't noticed but it had indeed been six years since my operation.

My job at that time would not allow for me to be out 3 months nor was I looking forward to the recovery process of major surgery. So, I got second opinions from various doctors; most recommending the same myomectomy procedure. It was through my research on the web that I found Dr. Bruce McLucas at Fibroids.com. I lived out of the state at the time so I made an appointment to drive to LA to meet with him. After meeting Dr. McLucas and seeing how knowledgable he was on the subject, I decided to have Uterine Fibroid Embolization. I chose a reasonablly priced hotel that was between the airport and the doctor's office. It was a two day procedure. The first day was completely painless and merely a chance for the Dr. to scope the area. The second day was the actual embolization procedure. Under a twighlight sleep, there was a slight feeling of discomfort but no real pain during the procedure. Later in the evening, there was heavy cramping but after taking my prescription, it eventually subsided.

Dr. McLucas and his staff were in constant contact with me at the hotel. I had a follow-up exam with Dr. Mc.Lucas on the 3 or 4 day to examine my belly button stitch and the injection sites. On the next day, I was traveling back home. It's been four years since my Embolization procedure and I feel great. I'm in excellent shape, I have a lot of energy, and more importantly, my periods are regular again. I am so thankful that I had this procedure. It has really improved the quality of my life."

So Grateful.

"God Bless Dr. McLucas!

I just want you all know that I'm a patient of his and had this procedure done about January of 2007. I can not THANK him enough for putting me out of my long life misery. What a relief. I have never felt better in my life. And what an easy way to take care of fibroids. I recommend it to anyone. You won't regret it.

With all my heart, THANKS AGAIN Dr. McLucas."
